Sinister Souls Interview
January 27th, 2010
Geronimo
Well guys, you are actually the first two artists to be interviewed for our brand new weblog. I happened to come across a mix at the famous dutch weblog Eclectro. I was blown away when I heard this crafted piece of mixing, with all tracks from yourself! The ‘Definition of silence‘ EP rose to the top ten of the dubstep charts of Beatport, and a release called Power Surge is released on vinyl in March on the S.C.U.M label based in Rotterdam. Still, I don’t know a damn thing about Sinister Souls! Could you be so kind to give us a short introduction of who you are and how you came together
We are Fred Huurdeman and Adriaan de Koning and we live in Utrecht – The Netherlands. We know eachother from drum n bass parties and we’re both members of the Utreg Massive.
Fred: I like spaghetti.
Adriaan: Yeah. I own two bikes there, lovely city.
Dubstep is a fairly new genre, how did you get into the dubstep scene?
Fred: My roots come from within the drum ‘n bass scene (spooky), but there wasn’t enough space left for my own productions. So Aad and I started looking in different directions.
Adriaan: The dubstep sound at the time wasn’t the sound I was searching for in my own music, so we decided to join forces and start creating the dubstep we would like to hear on the dancefloor. Read on!
