Virgin Mobile has announced an expansion of its popular “Inner Circle” unlimited plan. Through the plan, the company offered unlimited talk, text, and data, for $1 for the entire first year if you bought an iPhone from them. That offer has now expanded to include customers who transfer their number from their own iPhone to the network.
Dow Draper, CEO of Virgin Mobile USA said, “Consumers know that the Inner Circle is the real deal, but many love their current phones or don’t want to upgrade yet. So, now for a short period of time, you can bring your own iPhone to Virgin Mobile and enjoy everything the Inner Circle offers.” Virgin Mobile became an iPhone-only carrier back in June.
The Inner Circle plan uses Virgin Mobile’s nationwide 4G LTE network, which reaches more than 290 million people. Once the initial year is up, the Inner Circle plan automatically converts to a $50 a month unlimited plan. Additionally, each time an Inner Circle member upgrades to a new iPhone, they will receive an additional six months of service for only $1. The company’s statement says that customers could realize a savings of nearly $1,200 over two years by taking advantage of the Inner Circle plan. Joining
The carrier says that it is only offering the deal for “a short period of time.” The deal covers iPhone 5S and newer devices. You can get the SIM card for free if you sign up for Virgin Mobile’s plan before September 29th and for $25 after that. Virgin Mobile’s plan does come with restrictions, like video streams capped at 480p resolution, music streams capped at 500 kilobits per second and throttling after 23GB of usage.
Virgin Mobile’s Inner Circle plan requires no credit checks and there is no contract, so there are no long-term obligations. You can check your device’s eligibility on Virgin Mobile’s website. Once an iPhone is verified as compatible with the network, you can order a Virgin Mobile Inner Circle SIM2 Card Kit that will be shipped with simple instructions on how to install and activate it.
The Virgin Mobile announcement comes just ahead of Apple’s anticipated release of the next new iPhones. Next month, Apple is expected to host its annual iPhone event and the new phones should ship shortly thereafter. Virgin Mobile currently sells the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s Plus for the same prices as Apple. Virgin Mobile has priced the iPhone SE at $279.99, $120 less than its regular $399 price.
