Privacy Policy

Sound Sector exists to help producers find worthwhile tools and get more out of their DAW. That work doesn’t require knowing who you are, and we would rather keep it that way. This page explains, in plain language, what little information passes through the site — and what you can ask us to do with it.

Cookies and local storage

We’ll be straightforward: Sound Sector sets no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels and no cross-site identifiers. Nothing here follows you to other sites. A cookie may appear only when strictly necessary — for instance, to remember a display preference you chose yourself. Clear your browser storage whenever you like; every review and listing will still load exactly as before.

What our servers record

Like any website, ours is served by a web server that writes standard access logs. Those entries typically include:

• the IP address your request arrived from;
• browser and operating system details (the user agent string);
• the page or file requested, along with date and time;
• the referring page, if your browser sends one.

No account is needed to read plugin reviews, browse free tool roundups or work through our DAW guides. We do not collect names, payment details or your audio projects.

How that information is used

Log data serves one purpose: keeping the site online and readable. That means tracing errors, blocking scrapers and denial-of-service attempts, and understanding roughly which articles and sound-design guides get read. Aggregated figures may be reviewed internally. Your data is never sold, rented or traded to third parties, and we build no advertising profiles.

Third-party services

Where a content delivery network or a privacy-respecting analytics tool helps serve pages, it processes requests on our behalf under its own terms. If no such service is in use, your data does not leave our infrastructure. Outbound links to plugin vendors, DAW makers or sample shops lead to sites with separate policies — worth reading before you download anything.

Your choices and rights

Even though we hold very little, you can still ask us to act:

1. Request a copy of any log data tied to your IP address.
2. Ask for deletion of that data, except where security obligations require us to keep it.
3. Object to processing, or ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
4. Withdraw any consent you previously gave.

Children’s privacy

Sound Sector is written for adult producers, engineers and listeners. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly gather information from them. If you believe a child has submitted data, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, the revised wording will be posted right here with an updated effective date. Continuing to use Sound Sector after that date means you accept the revision.
